OK, PA. Did you read the paper over the weekend? Did you catch the story about the man out near Punxatawney whom police arrested for public drunkenness because witnesses observed him trying to "raise" a "long-dead" opossum on the side of the road?
Apparently, the man tried both occult and scientific means during his rescue - one witness alleged that he was gesturing as if conducting a seance, another that he attempted to use mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on the animal. The Times-Tribune reported that a state trooper said the man was "extremely intoxicated." I guess so!
While the article made me laugh, drunkenness - and especially driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) - is no laughing matter. DUI is a serious offense in PA, and anyone found to be operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content (BAC) over the legal limit of .08% can be arrested and charged with drunk driving.
