Scranton Man Slashed.
Stabbing, shooting, punching, or any type of offensive contact inflicted upon another person will land the aggressor in serious legal trouble. Assault is the knowing or intentional infliction, or attempt thereof, of bodily harm upon another person. Aggravated assault is more serious than simple assault and usually involves some object used as a weapon and/or the intent to cause serious bodily injury to the other person. The object need not be a knife or gun, but could be any object used to inflict bodily harm upon another, including feet or fists. Weapons could lead to more severe criminal charges and to increased jail time. There often are defenses or justifications for assaulting another person such as self-defense or defense of a third party. Although the person assaulted may have instigated the encounter or may have thrown the first punch, you may still be charged in the criminal system and imprisoned.
The Scranton Times-Tribune reports that a homeless Scranton man was slashed with a blade by a passerby in the early morning hours Saturday near South Sherman Street. The victim was taken to the Regional Hospital of Scranton and is recovering from his wounds. The victim was unable to give a description of the assailant and the police are still investigating the crime.
