The robber allegedly demanded money from the teller, without ever displaying a weapon, and then fled on foot with a bag full of cash.   Burglar Plunders Long John Silvers
Posted By Rogan Law

Burglar Plunders Long John Silver's in Moosic.

According to Pennsylvania statute, a person is guilty of burglary if he enters a building or occupied structure, with the purpose to commit a crime therein, unless the premises are at the time open to the public or unless the actor is licensed or privileged to enter. Burglary is a felony, and whether it is graded as a first-degree felony or third-degree felony depends on factors such as whether the structure has been adapted for overnight accommodation and whether any person is present therein. And the intent to commit a crime therein must have been formulated prior to or simultaneous with entering and could be for any crime, not only theft.

The Scranton Times-Tribune reports that Long John Silver's restaurant in Moosic was burglarized during the early-morning hours on Saturday after the suspect smashed a glass window for entry. The restaurant is still reviewing inventory in order to discover how much money and other items were taken.

If you have been charged with a serious felony such as burglary, then you need to contact an experienced criminal attorney in order to ensure that your rights are aggressively protected. Whether in Scranton, Honesdale, Montrose, Stroudsburg, Tunkhannock or Wilkes-Barre, an aggressive and experienced Scranton criminal lawyer can navigate you through the complicated criminal system - and will fight for your rights!

Scranton Police Search for Suspect in Bar Stabbing.

Assault is the knowing or intentional infliction of bodily harm upon another. Aggravated assault is more serious than simple assault and usually involves some object used as a weapon and/or an intent to cause serious bodily injury to the other person. The object need not be a knife or gun, but could be any object used to inflict bodily harm upon another. Weapons lead to more severe criminal charges and to increased jail time. There often are defenses or justifications for assaulting another person such as self-defense or defense of a third party. Although the person whom you assaulted may have instigated the encounter or may have thrown the first punch, you may still be charged in the criminal system and fined and imprisoned.

The Scranton Times-Tribune reports that a Scranton man was stabbed outside a bar Friday night. The victim received several stitches from the stab wound inflicted by a 6 inch steak knife. Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of the suspect who is being charged with assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.

If you are charged with a serious felony such as aggravated assault, then you need to an experienced criminal defense attorney in order to ensure that your rights are aggressively protected. Whether in Luzerne County, Lackawanna County, Monroe County, Wayne County, Wyoming County, Susquehanna County or Carbon County, an aggressive and experienced criminal defense attorney will navigate you through the complicated criminal system and will fight for your rights!

Weapon Charges.

When a police officer stops a vehicle during a traffic or speeding violation, it is important for the driver to remain calm and respectful to the officer. Suspicious activity and behavior of the driver or passengers inside the car may give the officer probable cause to search the vehicle. Although the Fourth Amendment to the U. S. Constitution protects citizens from unreasonable searches and seizures, the motor vehicle has been a particular area of concern regarding the constitutionality of the officer's search and the requirements for probable cause.

The Scranton Times-Tribune reports that two men have been charged with felony gun possession and receiving stolen property subsequent to being stopped by Pennsylvania State Police for speeding. Both men were committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility following their arrest.

If you are pulled over by the police and have reason to believe that the search of your vehicle and personal effects inside the vehicle were without probable cause, whether in Monroe County, Lackawanna County, Luzerne County, Wayne County, or whether in any county of NEPA, then you need to defend your legal rights! The first step in combating an unlawful search, or an illegal search, is to contact an experienced Scranton criminal defense attorney. An experienced Scranton criminal defense lawyer will defend your individual liberty and will fight to have unlawfully seized evidence deemed inadmissible at a possible criminal trial.

Man Steals From Employer.

Theft involves the unlawful taking of another's property and is of the highest invasions of property rights. In some cases, a person you know and trust can take what is rightfully yours without any warning or indication. The employer noticed the money missing when he found the company safe open and empty at the worksite. The suspect was apprehended and now faces serious charges for the alleged theft.

  Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania Drug Lawyer
Posted By Patrick M. Rogan
Yesterday, a 21-year-old man from the Wilkes-Barre area allegedly mugged and injured an 83-year-old woman.  The young man is charged with robbery, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

The Citizens' Voice reports that the man was already on bail in connection with previous accusations that he had committed theft - stealing from his mother - to support his heroin habit; he has reportedly tried repeatedly during the last three years to kick his habit through drug rehabilitation programs, without lasting success.

It is difficult for most people to imagine what could move a young man, someone who has his whole life before him, to victimize an elderly woman in this way.  But anyone who has a close, personal relationship with drug addiction - either because they are addicted themselves, or because they love someone who is addicted - knows that this kind of callous behavior is all too common among addicts.

In fact, people involved with Wilkes-Barre drug crimes are often also mixed up with violent crimes and other serious criminal offenses, increasing the possibility that they will face serious legal penalties.  Drug addicted criminals, perhaps more than anyone, need a solid, experienced Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania drug lawyer who can provide them with an aggressive, effective criminal defense.

It is not easy to admit that you have a problem you cannot solve on your own, but hiring a Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania drug lawyer from Rogan Law to help you with the state and/or federal drug charges you face as a result of your addiction is a step in the right direction.  Contact a Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania drug lawyer at Rogan Law, and begin reclaiming your future today.

  Scranton Juvenile Felonies Attorney
Posted By Patrick M. Rogan
"Juvenile" and "felony" are two words nobody wants or expects to see used together in a newspaper article, but in yesterday's Times-Tribune, we learned that ten young boys aged fourteen through fifteen from the Scranton area have allegedly committed a series of crimes that include robberies, armed robberies, burglaries and auto thefts over the last four months.  Police say more arrests are likely to follow.

Each of these kids is going to need an experienced Scranton felonies attorney who is also a premier Scranton juvenile crimes attorney.  The parents of these kids should remember that success rates are much higher in criminal cases where the defendant has an experienced and dedicated criminal defense lawyer as an ally.

Juvenile defendants may easily fall victim to overzealous prosecutors and law enforcement officers fighting for a case win.  A child may even be charged as an adult, as seems to be the case with at least one of the Scranton kids in this article, and if convicted then could face incarceration in an adult jail or prison.

Rogan Law provides superior legal representation, guidance, advice and resources to parents in need of a criminal defense attorney who is both a Scranton felonies lawyer and a Scranton juvenile crimes lawyer.

Local Gang Members Charged with Criminal Homicide in Lackawanna County
Posted By Patrick M. Rogan
The Times-Tribune reports that police have arrested three members of the Bloods street gang, including two West Scranton High School students, on criminal homicide charges.  The three young men - ages 17, 18 and 25 - were sent to Lackawanna County Prison without bail.

West Scranton High School's website states that the school "is a microcosm of the community it serves."  This likely is true - and the fact that at least two of its students have become involved with an organization as violent as the Bloods says a great deal about the serious problems facing our cities and schools.

Last spring, the Times-Tribune reported that Scranton officials finally admitted, after years of denial, that gangs were operating in the city.  Since 2005, nearly 400 likely or confirmed gang members have entered Lackawanna County Prison; at any time, 8% to 12% of the county's 900 inmates are suspected or confirmed gang members.

Though many local people blame the emergence of gangs on an influx of people from Philadelphia, New York and New Jersey, we must also admit that young people born and bred in our area are becoming involved with gangs and we must ask how we may begin turning things around.

Prevention is key, since once a person becomes involved with a gang and its criminal activities, he or she puts their whole future at risk.

A competent and knowledgeable Scranton criminal defense lawyer can help someone who has been caught up in the criminal justice system because of his or her gang affiliation get back on track.

If you have been charged with a gang-related crime in Lackawanna County, then you need a Scranton criminal defense attorney who can defend your rights and your freedom.  If you need help, then you should contact Rogan Law today.

  Stroudsburg, Monroe County Appeal
Posted By Patrick M. Rogan
Some news broke recently regarding a potential Stroudsburg, Monroe County appeal.

Last Friday, I learned that a Monroe County jury had convicted Hugo Selenski of robbery and kidnapping.  The case was major news, as Selenski had already been tried and found not guilty in other well-publicized cases, including two murders and a jail escape.  Selenski still faces charges in Luzerne County for a double murder.

WBRE reported that Selenski's attorney plans to appeal the conviction, claiming that allowing evidence from the upcoming Luzerne County murder trial in the Monroe County trial was unconstitutional.

Whether Selenski's appeal will be successful remains to be seen.  His case will be reviewed by a higher court, which could reverse the guilty verdict or even grant an entirely new trial.

During an appeal, many aspects of an original trial may be challenged, including misconduct on the part of the prosecutor, judicial errors, and ineffective assistance of your original attorney.  But appeals must be files promptly - you only have a certain window of time within which to act.

Don't waste time.  Contact a Stroudsburg criminal defense lawyer who can handle the complex proceedings an appeal requires.  Rogan Law will aggressively seek relief through appeals whenever a reversal or retrial is possible.  We will make it our number one goal to obtain a different outcome for your case.

Let us handle your Stroudsburg, Monroe County appeal.  Contact Rogan Law today.
